Photographed between 2005-2010 around the 4 islands in the Marmara Sea in Istanbul, Turkey. 35mm black and white film camera.
The Princes' Islands are a group of nine small islands, which are located in the east of Istanbul, near the Asian coast of the Marmara Sea. Inhabited mainly by Greeks and Turkish. Throughout history this group of islands was known by various names, however today the place is known as Princes Islands. During Roman and then Byzantine periods royal Ottoman families lived there.
This project aims to show the life in the islands in which the main public transport is carriages driven by Kurdish people, living in bad conditions and most of them share the same roof with the animals. A mystic place lost in time where horses are the main characters among the old cobble rock streets.
